I’d rather give into you and take longer to put myself back together once you’re gone because it’s all worth it to. Plus getting hurt by it once I shatter doesn’t matter as much now as it will when I’m broken down crying wishing of dying over the fact of how dearly so I miss you. I don’t admit it to you, but trust me. I do. More than you could possibly imagine. I would die just to be with you for sixty seconds. Those sixty seconds I would spend with our hands clasped so tight, saying as I smile with you “this is the happiest moment I’ve ever had. Thank you for this. I can’t express how much you mean to me. You are my world, darling. I love you. Every memory is more than good enough, every moment is golden with you”

Genuine love is rarely an emotional space where needs are instantly gratified. To know love we have to invest time and commitment… dreaming that love will save us, solve all our problems or provide a steady state of bliss or security only keeps us stuck in wishful fantasy, undermining the real power of love — which is to transform us.

There are some things about myself that I can’t explain to anyone. There are some things I don’t understand at all. I can’t tell what I think about things or what I’m after. I don’t know what my strengths are or what I’m supposed to do about them. But if I start thinking about these things in too much detail, the whole thing gets scary. And if I get scared, I can only think about myself. I become really self-centered, and without meaning to, I hurt people. So I’m not such a wonderful human being.
